Are there really more moose than people in the Great North Woods? No, but the state's northernmost region is its least populated with small towns among a patchwork of farms, fields and forest. Groups can get away to this area to stimulate creative juices and allow quiet concentration in a natural setting.

Outdoor recreation and teambuilding opportunities abound in this region dominated by vast woods, fast-moving rivers, fertile valleys, bold mountains, and isolated lakes. The Great North Woods is perfect for groups who crave extreme adventure. Sporting adventures are a way of life, from hunting to fishing, camping, hiking, boating, wildlife watching and snowmobiling.

White, steepled churches and hometown parades reflect the simple life here, but there is upscale lodging too, found in the distinct, refined personality of the region's historic grand hotel, The BALSAMS.

This part of New Hampshire is unique in other ways, too. Close proximity to Canada's Province of Quebec, as well as the Maine and Vermont borders, has resulted in a fascinating mix of cultures and outlooks.
